My Campaign

CAR-T and Bispecifics should be funded for NHS follicular lymphoma patients.

The Government wants to improve cancer outcomes. Here is an opportunity that doesn't need more Doctors, more scanners or more hospitals.

Follicular lymphoma is the second most common lymphoma, between 20-30% of all non-Hodgkin lymphoma cases. There are around 13,500 NHL annual diagnoses, so around 3,500 new follicular patients in the UK each year. This is how the NHS treatment for follicular lymphoma compares for the game changing new immunotherapy drugs:

CAR-T

USA - Breyanzi authorised in February 2021, Yescarta in March 2021 and Kymriah in May 2022

EU - Yescarta authorised in June 2022

UK - NOT AVAILABLE - no authorisation from NICE or NHS funding for follicular lymphoma

Bispecifics

USA - Mosunetuzumab authorised in December 2022

EU - Mosunetuzumab authorised in June 2022 and Epcoritamab in August 2024

UK - NOT AVAILABLE. Not funded by the NHS, NICE decided in April 2023 that Mosunetuzumab is not 'cost effective' for follicular lymphoma, despite the USA and EU clearly thinking otherwise

No wonder the UK lags so far behind.

My first step was to launch a petition on the UK Parliament website, but when the general election was called for July 2024 all petitions ended. It is now open again for new petitions, they are open for six months and if 10k signatures are received the Government will respond, and at 100k the petition will be debated in Parliament.

The big challenge is the six month limit. 100k is a huge number to reach in that time. Getting to 90k and seeing every signature just deleted would be a disaster. It might take two or three years to get enough. So I've come up with a new plan. I want to collect signatures using the database capability on this website platform. When we have the required numbers I will set up a new petition on the Government website and send out an email to everyone on the database with the link to the petitions website. We can then hit the government target very quickly as everyone visits the link.

Please enter your email address, name and postcode below. It really is that easy.
